Hi, I’m Jude Rhodes. A Genealogist based in Yorkshire

ABOUT JUDE RHODES

Jude lives in a village, in the Yorkshire Dales, along with three other generations of her family. She is proud of her very strong Yorkshire roots with ancestors from the North, East and West Ridings as well as distant ancestors from Westmorland (Cumbria) and Lancashire.

Jude has lived all her life in Yorkshire except for a few years in Newcastle upon Tyne for her nurse training; a city and area which remain important to her.

Jude’s interest in family history was sparked by conversations with her parents and their families; a piece of information was never enough, she wanted to know more – the why’s, where’s and when’s her ancestors lived which has led to a life of research into her own family and to many other families.

JUDE’S PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND

Jude qualified as a genealogist through the Pharos Tutors and Society of Genealogists Advanced Skills and Strategies course and is a member of the British Association for Local History Outreach Committee and an AGRA Associate.

JUDE’S WORK

Jude works with clients to research their genealogy, family history and heritage throughout the North of England, particularly in Yorkshire and a specialism of the Yorkshire Dales.

As a Registered Nurse Jude also works with individuals, and their families, who are living with dementia by creating personalised books to stimulate meaningful conversations through family history.

APPROACH TO GENEALOGY

Jude’s approach to genealogy is very much a family history approach which encompasses the local and social history of the people and the places. This provides a sense of identity and a glimpse into the lives of people in the past.

JUDE’S MOTIVATION

Jude is genuinely passionate about past lives and the process of delving into where these people lived, why they moved from one place to another, how they worked and who they lived with.

Each person and their family is unique providing renewed motivation to research and write about each case for each client. With a thirst for learning Jude is often found on another history course or listening to the many available talks from fellow genealogists. Jude is a regular speaker delivering talks, in person and online, on a variety of family history topics
